10 Things to Remember for your Wedding Day

light up love letters

There are going to be a million things going through your mind on the day of your wedding, so we’ve put together a list of the top ten things to remember or do on your wedding day…

1 Time

Allow plenty of time…

Make sure you plan to be at the venue ahead of schedule, the last thing you want is to be stuck in traffic and miss your time slot to get married! We advise grooms arrive an hour before the ceremony is due to start at the latest so you have time for some groomsmen photos and a quick breather before you’re whisked away to meet with the registrars.

2 touch ups

Assemble your squad

Ladies, make sure your maid of honour has tissues, make up for touch ups and perfume to keep you looking and smelling your best throughout the day

3 mints

Make sure you’re minty fresh

Gents, keep some tissues, aftershave and breath mints on you. If you’re going to be having a few drinks before the wedding then you don’t want your first kiss as a married couple to taste like whiskey!

4 - schedule

Have a plan

Keep a schedule of the day with you, know your timings and where you need to be at what times. Our event managers will be on hand to guide you through all of the important times during your day to ensure we stay as close to schedule as needed, but it’s always helpful if the best man and maid of honour can give you nudges of when you might need to speed up in getting ready or get back to the venue for your first dance if you’ve wandered off together for photos.

5 - Hydration

Have a drink

Stay hydrated! Have water bottles near by and try not to overload too quickly on prosecco first thing …especially on a hot day!

6 - Thank you

We couldn’t have done it without you

Thank your bridal party and groomsmen, these are the people that have had to deal with your mood swings and stressful phone calls for the last year or so, making them feel appreciated too is a great thing to do.

7 - Dancing

Party the night away

Bring dancing shoes! Those heels might look breathtaking as you walk down the aisle but bring some comfy shoes to change into so you can enjoy your special day until the bar closes and music ends!

8 - You

Take a moment for yourselves

It’s something most people regret after their wedding…they didn’t go off for five minutes and take in the fact that they have just become a married couple. Wootton Park offers a 4×4 estate photo experience that gives you 30 minutes away from your guests to take everything in. Have some romantic photos taken in the woods, jump onto a hay bale or even pose with our cows and sheep!

9 - enjoy

Have Fun

Enjoy the different elements of the day that you have paid for and spent hours planning… try something from your sweet cart, taste the canapés and take pictures in your photo booth! A lot of couples get so caught up in the day that they don’t manage to sample their evening food and wedding cake, make these a priority and ask your bridal party and groomsmen to remind you.

10 - Celebrate

Wooohooo!!

Celebrate! You are now a married couple and you should enjoy every moment, relax and let your hair down! Once you’ve done your first dance together the party can really start so ask the band or DJ to play something upbeat and lively whilst everyone is gathered on the dance floor.
