Wootton Park is constantly striving to be more eco friendly and many measures have been implemented to reduce our carbon footprint.
A 150kW biomass boiler uses wood chips from the local Ragley Hall estate which are transported by tractor and trailer. The wood chips are used to renewably heat water which is circulated to the wedding venue, Farmhouse and Bakehouse, providing both heating and hot water for guests. The boiler runs very efficiently and produces little ash
Three solar arrays have been installed on barn roofs to provide additional power, which also feed into the grid if there is excess produced which isn’t used on site.
The estate has also benefitted from the planting of around 50 acres of woodland, see our woodland ceremony option! These are mainly native species such as oak and ash and it has made a huge benefit to local wildlife. You can frequently see wild deer roaming the fields as well as hares, foxes and rabbits. There are also some areas of rough ground which encourage the wildlife and natural diversity.
The lakeside ceremony area is also a haven for wildlife, there are many plants around the border and aquatic plants in the water such as the beautiful lillies and rushes. There are many species of birds including coots, ducks, moorhens, geese, herons and even occasionally swans come to visit.
Weddings produce a lot of rubbish so endeavours are made to recycle as much as possible. Glass and mixed recycling is separated at source in the bar.
The bar doesn’t use plastic straws or cups instead opting for paper straws and compostible cups. The venue has water available free of charge and utilises a water filter to provide chilled bottles of water and reduce the amount of plastic used. Our evening street food suppliers use paper based products rather than plastic for food service.
Efforts are made to reuse, reduce and recycle wherever possible.
