Tell us your love story…
We met at work around 8 years ago & found love through our love of animals. I’d always talk to Ryan about my cat, Molly & he’d always talk to me about the family dog, Ellie!
We always spoke about getting married & Ryan knows I love nothing more than Molly and my love for Liverpool FC.
He’d waited until Liverpool won the Premier League & put the ring around Molly’s neck, hanging off her collar to ask me to marry him. It was the most perfect and beautiful moment!
What was your inspiration for the decor and styling…
Instantly, we knew what colours we wanted. We decided on navy, blush & sage but we were very easy going on the decor!
I’d spent hours on Pintrest taking a screen shot of decor I liked and showed these to Marianne Taviner who styled the venue for us. It was subtle, romantic and absolutely perfect. They also did all the buttonholes and my bouquet.. you’d never tell they were faux flowers.
We named our tables after our favourite Liverpool players ๐ .. much to the annoyance of some family members ha!
We also made sure we had Molly as a cake topper on the cake!ย So really our style was ensuring we made things we love be part of our day as well as having a relaxed atmosphere.
What were your favourite moments of the day…
Getting to row the boat on the lake was definitely one of our favourite moments. It was our time to take everything in and the view was stunning. Neither of us had ever rowed before so it was certainly an experience!
We also loved the morning.. the separate rooms for the bride & groom to get ready in are amazing. The Den is a fantastic place for a groom to get ready in. The pool table and darts really helps keep the atmosphere relaxed!
Finally, the party itself! Bringing two cultures together with a mix of music & dance moves was the most perfect end to our perfect day!
What was on the menu…
We decided to go with the Gourmet BBQ option but were told we could make this bespoke. So we asked Wootton what they could do for us as we wanted an Indian styled BBQ. They were really accommodating and our mains were:
Tandoori Chicken Thighs, Lamb Kebabs, Paneer Tikka Skewers and Marinated Vegetable Kebab Skewers with Wedges, Salads, Dips & Cheescake as dessert!
It’s safe to say everyone was so complimentary about the food saying how delicious it was, how the waiters and waitresses were really polite continuously bringing more food over to each table.
We went with the light bites for the evening food which were Lemon & Herb Chicken Tacos and Halloumi & Pomegranate Wraps. They also went down an absolute treat!
We had our own sweet table which I set up on the morning – there was nothing left by the end of the night!
Our cake was egg free raspberry and vanilla flavour ๐
Our menu was pretty much 50% meat & 50% vegetarian so we could accommodate all our guests with yummy food!
What was the biggest challenge you faced in the run up to the wedding…
Sadly I’m a perfectionist! What I mean by that is I felt like the day would only go perfect if I was in control of everything. If I’m in control, nothing can go wrong right?
Wrong! Wootton are professionals, they know exactly what they need to do in order to make your day perfect. My biggest challenge was myself, but as a bride you really need to try and relax and realise there’s people around you who WILL make your wedding day perfect.
What made you choose Wootton Park…
We knew we wanted a rustic styled venue, so we shortlisted around 5 on Bridebook.
Wootton was the first venue we went out to see. When we got there, we were speechless. It’s honestly the most beautiful and unique venue. We loved the drive up to the venue that lasts around 2 minutes where you take in all the grounds.
Then we saw the lakeside area and I don’t think we ever spoke about having an outdoor wedding, but being there just felt so right.
We visualised our family and friends there with us and we just knew. We didn’t even go to look at the other venues we shortlisted and we reserved this one straight away. It was the best decision we ever made ๐
One thing everyone said to us was how there was nothing that was too much trouble for the staff at Wootton. They were fantastic!
What was the best piece of advise you were given in the run up to your big day…
‘Keep calm & take it all in’
‘Let people do their jobs’
‘Enjoy every moment’
Naturally we won’t listen though will we?!ย It really was the right advice though..
Honestly, keep calm & have a glass of prosecco ๐
Do relax and take it all in. Give your closest friends/family roles for the day, it really does help.
If you can find some time where it’s just the two of you – do it. We had a sweetheart table for this reason.
At the end of it, you’ll sit back and think ‘wow, that was perfect’ – I promise ๐
