Celebrate the date

Light up love letters

I know this is a really difficult and confusing time for everyone, no one really knows what’s happening and what we should and shouldn’t be doing. But we do know one thing for certain, that we should be staying at home as much as possible.

To all of the couples out there who have had their wedding postponed, I can’t begin to imagine how you must be feeling right now. You have to try and remind yourself that this is for the best, given the current climate, and that you can have all of your friends, families and loved ones around you to celebrate when your new date comes. In the meantime, don’t look at your previous wedding date as a negative, celebrate it! You planned for that date for months, maybe even years, so don’t look at it as a ruined day, embrace it.

Here are a few suggestions from the Wootton Park Team for things you could do to celebrate the date whilst you can’t go out:

Wootton Park Wedding High Tea
Deli board with olives
pizza
Barbecue meats
Dessert tower
Chocolate covered strawberries
Beer pong

Recreate your first date.

Everyone’s first date with the person that they are going to marry is memorable. Make the first meal you ate together, play beer pong on your dining table (yes, I played beer pong on my first date with my boyfriend!! 🙂 ), watch the movie you went to see. If you aren’t the best cook, you can always order in. Make the cocktails you drank, or make up new ones, you could even serve them at your wedding…Quarantini’s!

Have a picnic.

The weather may not be the best right now, but I honestly love nothing more than a carpet picnic. Throw a blanket and some cushions down, get some of your favourite snacks and treats and sit cross legged on the floor together. Even if it just takes you back to your childhood for a short while, there’s nothing wrong with that 🙂

Build a fort.

Now I’ll be completely honest with you, my boyfriend and I decided to write a list of things that we wanted to do whilst we weren’t able to go out and genuinely, build a fort was the first thing on our list! Check out the picture below for the amazing one I made for him last year! It’s so easy and so much fun, if you’re that way inclined (which I absolutely am!!) dig out the fairy lights from Christmas, get your duvet cover out, prop your sofa cushions up and watch your favourite movie together with a big bowl of popcorn! Have a look on Pinterest for some incredible popcorn recipes too!

Pamper night.

Get those head bands and face masks out!! Fill your washing up bowl with warm, soapy water, soak those feet and relax!!

Games night.

Dig out those board games, maybe avoid monopoly! Ask Alexa to play a game with you, there are loads of different options on there to play together. You could even do a couples quiz.

Make a time capsule to open on your wedding day.

Write each other notes to read on the new day of your wedding. Put things in there that you will remember fondly in years to come. Set yourselves future goals and dreams. Put notes in there to open up on your anniversaries.

Have a video call with your friends and family.

There are so many apps out there that you can use to have group video calls. Houseparty is a great one, or Zoom. You could pop open the bubbly and raise a glass to the celebrate the date.

There are so many different things that you can do to celebrate the date and we’d love to see your pictures. Tag us in them on Facebook or Instagram and don’t forget to use #wpmagic

Take care of each other!
